President U Win Myint, First Lady host 71st Anniversary Independence Day dinner

President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho hosted a dinner in commemoration of the 71st Anniversary of Independence Day on the front lawn of the Presidential Palace in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday evening.
The President and First Lady arrived at the dinner at 7:00 p.m. and cordially greeted the guests individually. At the dinner, Vice President U Myint Swe and wife Daw Khin Thet Htay, Union Ministers Lt-Gen Sein Win, U Kyaw Tint Swe, Dr. Pe Myint, U Min Thu, U Kyaw Tin and their wives welcomed the invited guests. President U Win Myint and First Lady Daw Cho Cho greeted the ambassadors and their spouses, representatives of UN agencies and their spouses on the lawn of the Presidential Palace. Also present at the dinner were State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, Vice President U Myint Swe and wife Daw Khin Thet Htay, Vice President U Henry Van Thio and wife Dr Shwe Hlwan, Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw U T Khun Myat and wife Daw Yin May, Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw Mahn Win Khaing Than and wife Daw Nant Kyin Kyi, Chief Justice of the Union U Htun Htun Oo, Chairman of the Constitutional Tribunal U Myo Nyunt and wife Daw Htay Yi, Chairman of the Union Election Commission U Hla Thein and wife Daw Aye Thida, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, Deputy Speaker of Pyithu Hluttaw U Tun Tun Hein and wife Dr. Sein Sein Thein, Deputy Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw U Aye Tha Aung and wife Daw Thein Yin Chay, Chairman of the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw’s Legal Affairs and Special Cases Assessment Commission Thura U Shwe Mann and wife Daw Khin Lay Thet, Union Ministers, the Union Attorney-general, the Union Auditor-General, the Chairman of the Union Civil Service Board, the Chairman of the Peace Commission, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, the Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, Anti-corruption Commission Chairman, and Myanmar National Human Rights Commission Chairman and their wives and senior military officers and their wives, chairmen of Hluttaw affairs committees, Deputy Ministers, Hluttaw representatives, representatives of political parties, departmental heads, diplomats of foreign missions in Myanmar, representatives of UN agencies in Myanmar and their spouses recipients of titles and honours and their families and invited guests.
During the dinner, fireworks were set off nearby and the Myanmar Radio and Television presented entertainment programmes before and during the dinner. After the dinner, the President, First Lady, State Counsellor and guests were entertained by the Myanma Radio modern music troupe and artists from the Department of Fine Arts, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture. — MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
