CDA at the Timor-Leste Embassy ordered to leave Myanmar (Nay Pyi Taw, 27 August 2023)

On 25 August 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar issued a Diplomatic Note ordering the Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste in Yangon to leave no later than 1 September 2023.

The Ministry has observed that despite the repeated warnings and demands of the Government of Myanmar, the government of Timor-Leste has conducted engagements with terrorist group so- called the National Unity Government (NUG) which has been encouraging and committing terrorist and violence acts in Myanmar.

The Ministry recalled the fact that the Anti-Terrorism Central Committee of Myanmar has officially declared the unlawful associations – the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH), the National Unity Government (NUG), People’s Defence Force (PDF) and all their subordinates – as terrorist groups by its Notification No. 2/2021 on 8 May 2021 in accord with the Anti-Terrorism Law of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
