The Bureau of East Asian and Pacific Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee welcomed, in their respective posts on X, the meeting between Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and a delegate of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) on 3 August 2026.
While the positive aspects of the posts are acknowledged, the calls for “Daw Aung San Suu Kyi’s immediate and unconditional release” has implications for the relevant judicial process and the fundamental principles of the rule of law in a sovereign State. As she was found guilty of committing electoral fraud, corruption and maladministration, prosecution was carried out against her in accordance with the law. Although the government has commuted her sentences based on humanitarian considerations, the matter of a full and unconditional release shall only be carried out in accordance with the law.
The Government has repeatedly taken measures to grant pardons and to commute the sentences of prisoners, with due regard to humanitarian considerations. From 2021 to date, a total of 126,964 prisoners have been granted pardons. U Win Myint has also been granted a pardon from his sentences.
While acknowledging positive aspects of the posts, Myanmar regrets the inclusion of less than constructive calls.
A free and fair multiparty democratic election was held in Myanmar from December 2025 to January 2026. Of the 24.23 million eligible voters, more than 13.13 million people cast their votes, representing 54.22 percent of the total eligible voters. The voters, including a large number of young people, exercised their right to vote freely in accordance with their own free will, making the election a free and fair.
The incumbent Government is a government elected by the people. As the elected Government is firmly committed to pursuing the democratic path, constructive engagement and cooperation from the United States are necessary for Myanmar which democracy is still in its early stage. Myanmar looks forward to working with the United States in the areas where the two countries can cooperate constructively.

နိုင်ငံတော်အစိုးရအနေဖြင့် ပြစ်ဒဏ်ကျခံနေရသူများအား လွတ်ငြိမ်းချမ်းသာခွင့်ပြုခြင်းနှင့် ပြစ်ဒဏ်များလျှော့ပေါ့ပေးခြင်းများကို လူသားချင်းစာနာထောက်ထားမှုရှုထောင့်မှ အလေးထား၍ အကြိမ်ကြိမ် ဆောင်ရွက်ပေးခဲ့ရာ ၂၀၂၁ ခုနှစ်မှ ယခုအချိန်အထိ လွတ်ငြိမ်းချမ်းသာခွင့်ပြုခဲ့သည့် အကျဉ်းသား အရေအတွက်မှာ ၁၂၆,၉၆၄ ဦး ရှိပြီဖြစ်ပါသည်။ ဦးဝင်းမြင့်ကိုလည်း ပြစ်ဒဏ်များမှ လွတ်ငြိမ်းချမ်းသာ ခွင့်ပြုခဲ့ပါသည်။
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအနေဖြင့် အမေရိကန်နိုင်ငံ၏ အပြုသဘောဆောင်သော ဖော်ပြချက်များကို အသိအမှတ်ပြု မှတ်သားထားသော်လည်း၊ အပြုသဘောမဆောင်သည့် တောင်းဆိုချက်များ အပေါ် စိတ်မသက်မသာ ဖြစ်ရပါသည်။
မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ၌ ၂၀၂၅ ခုနှစ်၊ ဒီဇင်ဘာလမှ ၂၀၂၆ ခုနှစ်၊ ဇန်နဝါရီလအတွင်း ပါတီစုံ ဒီမိုကရေစီစနစ်အရ လွတ်လပ်ပြီး တရားမျှတသည့် ရွေးကောက်ပွဲတစ်ရပ် ကျင်းပခဲ့ပါသည်။ အဆိုပါရွေးကောက်ပွဲတွင် ဆန္ဒမဲပေးပိုင်ခွင့်ရှိသူ ၂၄.၂၃ သန်းရှိသည့်အနက် ဆန္ဒမဲပေးသူ ၁၃.၁၃ သန်းကျော် ဆန္ဒမဲပေးခဲ့ကြပြီး ဆန္ဒမဲပေးပိုင်ခွင့်ရှိသူဦးရေ၏ ၅၄.၂၂ ရာခိုင်နှုန်းသော ပြည်သူများက လွတ်လပ်စွာ ဆန္ဒမဲပေးခဲ့ကြပါသည်။ လူငယ်များစွာ ပါဝင်သည့် မဲဆန္ဒရှင်ပြည်သူများက ၎င်းတို့၏ လွတ်လပ်သော ဆန္ဒသဘောထားများဖြင့် ဆန္ဒမဲပေးခဲ့ကြပြီး လွတ်လပ်၍ တရားမျှတသော ရွေးကောက်ပွဲတစ်ရပ် ဖြစ်ခဲ့ပါသည်။
ယခုလက်ရှိ အစိုးရသည် ပြည်သူများက ရွေးချယ်တင်မြှောက်ထားသည့် အစိုးရဖြစ်ပြီး၊ ရွေးကောက်ခံအစိုးရအနေဖြင့် ဒီမိုကရေစီလမ်းကြောင်းပေါ်၌ ခိုင်ခိုင်မာမာ လျှောက်လှမ်းသွားမည် ဖြစ်ရာ ဒီမိုကရေစီဖွံ့ဖြိုးတိုးတက်မှု အစောပိုင်းအဆင့်တွင်သာ ရှိနေသေးသည့် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအပေါ် အမေရိကန်နိုင်ငံ၏ အပြုသဘောဆောင်သည့် လက်တွဲပူးပေါင်းဆောင်ရွက်မှုလိုအပ်ပါသည်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအနေဖြင့် အမေရိကန်နိုင်ငံနှင့် ပူးပေါင်းဆောင်ရွက်နိုင်မည့်ကဏ္ဍများတွင် ပူးပေါင်း ဆောင်ရွက်သွားရန် မျှော်လင့်ပါသည်။
