The Myanmar Delegation currently in Malaysia to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits participated in a series of meeting and events on 26 October 2025. These included the Opening Ceremony of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, the ASEAN Prize Award Ceremony, the Signing Ceremony for the Declaration on Timor-Leste’s Accession to ASEAN, the Plenary Session of the 47th ASEAN Summit, the 13th ASEAN-US Summit, the 28th ASEAN-Japan Summit, the 22nd ASEAN-India Summit and the Retreat Session of the 47th ASEAN Summit.

Throughout these meetings, leaders engaged in discussions on strengthening the ASEAN Community, reviewing ASEAN’s External Relations, charting future cooperation, the situation in Myanmar, and regional and international developments.

At the meetings, the Head of the Myanmar Delegation emphasized the importance of balanced progress across ASEAN’s three pillars, as fundamental to building a resilient, innovative, dynamic, and people-centred ASEAN Community. The Head of the Myanmar Delegation stressed that ASEAN must continue to serve as a neutral and constructive platform in fostering cooperation with its external partners.

Regarding the situation in Myanmar, Head of the Myanmar Delegation stated that the Myanmar Government is making efforts to ensure peace and stability, end violence, and promote inclusive development across the country. It was also highlighted that the upcoming elections would serve as an important step toward building a genuine multi-party democratic system. He then reiterated that the Government remains committed to protecting and safeguarding the interests of the people.

Furthermore, the Myanmar Delegation underscored that any discriminatory treatment against Myanmar, which runs counter to ASEAN’s core principles, could potentially undermine the unity and cohesion of ASEAN.
