U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs received Mr. Gilles Michaud, UN Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security, at 11:30 hrs on 4 April 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw.During the meeting, Mr. Gilles Michaud discussed the security of the UN personnel and the travel access for operating respective functions of UN Agencies in Myanmar. The Deputy Prime Minister and the Union Minister for Foreign Affairs responded that Myanmar highly prioritizes the safety and security of the UN personnel and facilitates at its best for the travel access for the UN agencies. Moreover, they exchanged views on matters related to transnational crimes.Also present at the meeting were senior officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Marcoluigi Corsi, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator a.i. and Mr. Marco Smoliner, Security Advisor of UNDSS in Myanmar.
