Vice President U Myint Swe delivered a speech at a ceremony to mark the completion of the nationwide population and household census, which was held at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-2 (MICC-2) yesterday morning.

At the ceremony, Vice President U Myint Swe said the 2014 census was taken after 30 years had passed, and started with a signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Myanmar government and United Nations in 2012.

As expected, the taking of the census faced challenges and unavoidable difficulties. Census work requires much investment in both time and money, and many government departments need to work together at all stages.
More than 120,000 teachers participated, as the government coordinated with relevant departments and persons throughout the country, resulting in the successful completion of the census.
